The Well of Stars: the origin novel is out

Published on

Where do the recitation cards come from? The new novel in the series answers in its own way — the way of a tale. The Well of Stars — Origins of the Seal of Stars is out, in paperback and Kindle eBook. The French edition is live today; the English edition is going live within days.

Granada, late in the year 1491. In a ruined garden, a young master with too hurried a heart leans over a waterless well — and the bottom of the well opens onto a sky of stars. It is the story of Idris, fallen a thousand years into the future among the last reciters of the worlds; of the black ships that hunt the bearers of the Book; and of a treasure map barred with six wax seals, sealed beneath a hill to wait for its hour.

What makes this novel special

Like its elder, it is written for readers aged 10 and up — and for everyone else. Fifteen plates illustrate it, and the seven verses of Al-Fatiha serve as its backbone: each chapter walks alongside one of them, in order. Every chapter closes with a sourced panel — verses and hadiths with full references, in approximate renderings of the meaning — and the part that is true is always explicitly separated from the part that is tale.

The two novels can be read in either order: The Well of Stars begins before The Seal of Stars and ends at its first page, giving away none of the surprises of either.

Where to find it

Both books, their summaries and their Amazon links are gathered on the new Books page.

And as always: the novels are published in support of the project, and the cards remain free — your first one is waiting on the Downloads page.
